Who this programme is designed for

Starting GLP-1 medication and want it done properly — not just a script with no follow-up.

Already using medication and need safe, clinician-led ongoing support and a long-term plan.

Busy professionals who want a structured, governance-led process they can trust.

Maintenance and relapse prevention — staying on track after initial weight loss, including if your BMI has changed.

If you’re looking for the cheapest medication-only supply with no monitoring, an online pharmacy may be a better fit. We are a clinical programme, not a dispensing service.

How it works

  1. Complete the online assessment (10–15 minutes).
  2. Clinical review by our GP or specialist nurse to confirm suitability and the safest pathway.
  3. If approved, we send your next steps and the appropriate payment link.
  4. Medication is supplied separately by our partner pharmacy.
  5. Ongoing prescribing requires monitoring. No check-in = no script.

How pricing changes as you progress

Most patients start on Active (Essentials or Empowerment) during dose titration. Once stable on a consistent dose, they step down to Maintenance. Long-term stable patients who require only periodic prescription continuation may move to Health (pay-per-issue).

Typical journey examples:

Essentials route: Active Essentials 4 months (£149/mo) → Maintenance 5 months (£99/mo) → Health pay-per-issue (£49/issue)

Empowerment route: Active Empowerment 4 months (£199/mo) → Maintenance 5 months (£99/mo) → Health pay-per-issue (£49/issue)

Frequently Asked Questions

Is medication included in the programme fee?

No. Medication is supplied and paid separately to our partner pharmacy. Medica fees cover clinical assessment, governance, monitoring and prescribing decisions.

Do I get GP oversight?

Yes. Your assessment and check-ins are clinically reviewed. Prescribing decisions follow clear protocols with escalation to the GP where needed. This is GP-led care, not a pharmacist-only or automated service.

Can I join for medication only, with no monitoring?

No. We are not a medication-only service. Ongoing prescribing requires check-ins and monitoring. No check-in = no script.

How do dose changes work?

Dose changes are managed in the Active programme (Essentials or Plus) under clinical monitoring. Health is continuation only — no dose changes.

What if I miss doses?

Restart rules apply based on the time since your last injection. We will advise the safest restart approach at your next check-in.

What is the minimum engagement commitment?

To remain on the continuation pathway, you must complete a check-in at least once every 12 weeks.

How quickly will I hear back after submitting my assessment?

We aim to review all assessments within 2–3 working days and will contact you directly with next steps.

Do you offer in-person appointments?

The programme is remote-first, which suits most patients. In-person appointments in Portsmouth are available where clinically needed.

What do you monitor?

Weight, waist measurement, BMI, side effects, and structured check-ins. Photos may be requested periodically for governance.

What's the difference between Essentials and Empowerment?

Both include monthly check-ins, clinician-led prescribing decisions, and a long-term maintenance strategy. Empowerment adds a personalised nutrition plan and an initial blood results review before your first prescription.

What makes Medica different from online services?

Medica is a CQC-registered practice with a GP and specialist diabetes nurse overseeing every patient. We enforce check-ins, monitor for side effects, and manage dose titration properly. You are not just getting a script — you are getting a programme.

What blood tests do I need and how do I get them done?
Empowerment and VIP patients are required to arrange an initial blood test before their first prescription is authorised. We recommend Medichecks (medichecks.com). Tests should cover: HbA1c, fasting lipids, liver function, kidney function, full blood count and thyroid. We will send full guidance on approval. Results are shared with your clinical team before your first prescription decision. VIP patients also receive an annual blood results review.
